I made my first set of meals a couple weeks ago, and I’ve really enjoyed the benefits of this cooking method. However, I had a lot of trouble with the cookbook. Like a previous poster, there were so many errors in this cookbook. One of the recipes was missing an entire part of the recipe’s directions, and I had to improvise. Also, I realized quite quickly that I needed to actually sit down and read every single recipe to make sure that all the ingredients and prep work processes had been recorded properly, because there were many errors there too. Most of the recipes have turned out great, but this book would be so much better if someone had just taken the time to really proof read everything. I plan to make another set of meals in two weeks from now, and I’m definitely going to use the recipes, but make the shopping lists myself, and read all the recipes to carefully record all the prep work involved, plus make sure I’m not going to be stuck with a half-missing recipe!!!

This is such a great book. The author does ALL the organizing for you, so all you have to do is get plenty of rest the night before the big cooking day! It all pays off in huge time dividends throughout the ensuing month, when dinner is a matter of several choices that are ALREADY MADE! I loved it!! This book would’ve gotten a 5-star rating if it had a spiral binding like the older version. It was MUCH easier to keep open throughout the day of cooking. Still, I have given this book as a gift and the recipient loved it too.

If you own the first OAMC from 1999 I wouldn’t spend the money to get the revised and expanded edition that just came out. What is considered expanded I guess is the chapter on accompaniments. But I’m sure you already have several cookbooks that include side dishes already. One of the side dish “recipes” is crudites which calls for snap peas, jicama sticks, carrot, celery sticks and red pepper strips. Not sure you need another cookbook for such a “recipe”.
It also is the exact same verbiage from the 1999 cookbook and 90% of the recipes are the same. The ones eliminated were the ones you could guess wouldn’t freeze well; namely the milk based dishes. They have been replaced by other meals in the new cookbook. So if you have the previous version just skip the milk based freezer meals.
Still a good cookbook and Mimi and Mary Beth are the leaders in once a month cooking.

    Pretty Good
This is a good book with a lot of good ideas, but the only problem is that the recipes and meal ideas don’t contain many vegetables … otherwise a good book

    Wonderful
This book was a great help in organizing my month. It helped make family meals a time to enjoy rather than pulling my hair out. Thanks!
